Ashlee Kanouse

August 3, 2010

Ashlee is working on a series of portraits featuring unique and animated facial expressions (more images after the jump).

Ashlee Kanouse is currently attending Academy of Art University, San Francisco as an illustration and fine arts major. She is originally from Canyon Country, CA, but moved to the Bay Area last winter. Although she has been drawing since she was three years old, Ashlee became interested in drawing portraits during last spring semester for a final project for her analysis of form class.

When asked how being raised in suburbia has affected her art, Ashlee responded, “Suburbicide. The only good thing about the suburbs is there is literally nothing better to do than make art or do something creative to keep your sanity.” Needless to say, her hometown has heavily influenced her interest in art.

Since leaving suburbia, Ashlee’s art has changed dramatically. “I enjoy what I’m doing much more,” she says.
