Antioch Closing

July 2, 2010

In case you didn’t already know, Antioch Church and Coffeehouse will be closing its doors. We’ll still be hosting shows with them on Friday nights through July, with July 23 being the final night. This marks the end of a short but sweet relationship Proxart has had with Antioch.

Proxart has been around since 2008, hosting events at any local venues that would have us. Since then we’ve witnessed It’s a Grind, Bella Via, and Abbey Lane (all local coffeshops/venues) close their doors. Unfortunately, Antioch has now joined that list.

But the closing of Antioch isn’t simply a place going out of business or a church shutting its doors; it’s the death of Santa Clarita’s only local venue. Unlike other places we’ve had events at, Antioch has always had a “venue first” mentality, working tirelessly to give the community something it so desperately needs.

Perhaps because Antioch is a church and not a business that we have hope. Hope for change in the SCV. Hope that people fight for a venue. Hope that this isn’t the end.

Until then we stand alongside Antioch, determined to go down swinging.

You should contact Diana from The Coffee House in Newhall. They just opened and they want to serve the community.

She was interested in hosting special events once a month or so, so maybe you guys would work out some kind of agreement.

Oh and the coffee is to die for. 🙂
